Powerful email client created by Google
Gmail is an online email service provided by Google which comes with most of the tools that are supplied by the front runners in desktop emailing services.
You can us this application just as it has Google has it set up, or as a manager for you own email accounts, downloading the messages that are in your own account's inboxes via POP3 (up to a maximum of 5 separate accounts). Each account has a storage limit of 7GB of content, although this capacity increases every day. You can extract and read messages in your Gmail account using POP3 or IMAP.
Gmail is equipped with a powerful text editor to help with composing wholly personalized messages, using different fonts, font sizes, styles, colours, justification options, listing options, etc. You can also add multimedia content such as pictures, emoticons, etc., and attach files (up to 20MB in size).
There are several methods of message organization: labelling, giving prominence, filtering... Each of the methods has its own configuration which enables you to categorize each message or group of messages in a matter of seconds.
One of the most popular and effective features of Gmail is its powerful anti-Spam filter, which will spare you the annoyance of those publicity messages received every day on a massive scale by hundreds of thousands of email customers around the world.
Worth mentioning is the efficacious address book manager integrated in the Gmail interface, which makes use of a CSV contacts importer, and enables you to organize contacts into groups, and even print them out on paper.
Also incorporated in Google's email service is online chat which makes it possible to communicate directly online with those of our contacts who possess a Gmail account. These days, too, you can activate the automatic saving function for chat conversations within your email account.
Every day, Gmail is expanding its features and adding new ones, such as Gmail labs, a zone where you can test out the new proposals from the service's creators and can turn this online email client into a supertool for email hosting, with such features as 'offline' mode, themed graphics, task lists, mouse gestures, keyboard shortcuts, improvements to the interface and canned responses among others.
